Hey everyone, I'm new on this forum, so I don't know if a thread like this has been posted before. I am going to the 'Crafting the Essay' program in a few weeks, and have received no correspondence so far as to what to bring. I'm not sure if I should have received a list of supplies or not, but if anyone here has taken this course, or has experience with CTY, could you give me some advice on what I should bring? Paper, pens, etc. Also, what type of clothing will I need to bring? Any formal wear? Thank you so much for any advice you can give me, and I'm sorry if there are any threads identical to this one. :)

We just dropped off our d. at JHU CTY camp yesterday.
The list for “Crafting the Essay” is:
- 50 Essays: A portable Anthogolgy by Vohen, Samuel
- Binder, 1 in. 3-ring.
- NOtebook, spiral, 80 - 100 sheets
- paper, college ruled, 400 sheets

Of course I assume pencils, pens, and regular school clothing.

So I have to buy this book before I get there? Thank you so much, that was very helpful.

Sorry there was a typo in my msg. the author of the textbook is Cohen. (NOt Vohen.)
If you don’t buy the book befor you go, you may buy it from the bookstore of wherever your campus is. We got our d the book before she went so we could take a look at it to see what it’s about. (she is doing a different subject.)
Have fun!

You should have received info about what to bring–are you sure you didn’t miss an e-mail?

@Maxwellequations- thank you! I think I will get it before I go. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.

@Hunt- It’s possible, but as of right now I am almost positive I have received no communication from CTY. I’m not even sure what section of the campus to go to on my first day, or what time to be there! I guess I’m the only one completely in the dark about this- I’ll be sure to email/call CTY. I honestly don’t know how I could have missed this information…

You might want to call them–they may have a bad e-mail address or something.

My son attended CTY at Lancaster and St. Mary’s MD for a number of years. At both locations he needed a set of extra-long sheets and, I think, a small box of laundry detergent. Otherwise he just brought regular informal summer clothing and the usual toiletries and school supplies. Supplies for the class were available for purchase onsite. At Lancaster there is a drag day but the idea is that you swap clothes with friends of the other gender, not that you bring your own cross-dressing outfit.

If you haven’t gotten a email or letter, check the CTY website for info.
