What to bring?

What should a student bring? (Aside from the obvious like clothes, laptop, etc.)

Why did they recommend bringing plates, cups, silverware(everything should be provided in dining halls?) sleeping bag (what?) (from UC Santa Cruz -The Colleges Frequently Asked Questions).
Formal attire needed?

What is the availability of certain things in the stores on campus like shampoo, eye drops, over the counter medicine?

People bring eating utensils (cheap ones) so they can microwave food and eat it in their dorms, which is inevitable as it starts to rain and you get lazy. Not sure on the sleeping bags. I seriously doubt you’d need formal attire, but I’d bring a blazer and a collared shirt along with some khakis or something that could be dressed up but still wearable for every day stuff.

definitely bring earplug or something if you are a light sleeper

i know it clearly says don’t bring a skateboard, but when i went to spring spotlight, i saw at least 2 guys skating by the field and wellness center. i want to bring my skateboard damnit what do?

You can buy some basic stuff (shampoo, OTCs, ect) at the bookstore, but they prices are wayyy jacked up, so stock up at walmart before coming :)

@zabdulla: Bring your skateboard, just don’t skate on weekday afternoons. People get away with it, but it’s usually after 5pm.
