What to do after finishing school?

Hi everyone, my name is Mario, I'm 18 years old and I'm currently on my last year of high school. I live in Croatia and I'm very interested in becoming a student of one of US colleges. I've been playing basketball for 11 years now, I'm training hard everyday and I can really see my improvement every month. I am good at playing basketball and I really think I could play on one of your colleges (I'm not trying to be cocky or anything, just giving additional info :P). The thing is, I'm not informed that much about your colleges, so I don't know how, when and where to apply and what do I need before I can aplly. I've been told I need to take the SAT. I know what it is and it can be taken in my city. So first thing I want to know is: When do I need to take the SAT? Also, how do I prepare for the test? It's already September and I don't know when should I take the test and when should I apply for one of the colleges. Second thing I want to know is: Can I apply to one of the colleges and hopefully get a scholarship? I wasn't the part of the National junior team. I know I'm asking for too much, but I have to know what my chances are... Long story short, I would love to get into a college (whichever), where I could play basketball (and hopefully make something out of it) and get a scholarship. That's pretty much all, I would very much appreciate any feedback and help.
By the way, I'm an average student, this is my last year of high school. My average grades from last three years of high school were 3.6. So I get 3s and 4s mostly.
Looking forward to your answers :)

SATs are given on specific days. You should take them as soon as possible.
