Where to go after high school

Hi everyone, my name is Mario, I'm 18 years old and I'm currently on my last year of high school. I live in Croatia and I'm very interested in becoming a student of one of US colleges. I've been playing basketball for 11 years now, I'm training hard everyday and I can really see my improvement every month. I am good at playing basketball and I really think I could play on one of your colleges (I'm not trying to be cocky or anything, just giving additional info ). The thing is, I'm not informed that much about your colleges, so I don't know how, when and where to apply and what do I need before I can aplly. I've been told I need to take the SAT. I know what it is and it can be taken in my city. So first thing I want to know is: When do I need to take the SAT? Also, how do I prepare for the test? It's already September and I don't know when should I take the test and when should I apply for one of the colleges. Second thing I want to know is: Can I apply to one of the colleges and hopefully get a scholarship? I wasn't the part of the National junior team. I know I'm asking for too much, but I have to know what my chances are... Long story short, I would love to get into a college (whichever), where I could play basketball (and hopefully make something out of it) and get a scholarship. That's pretty much all, I would very much appreciate any feedback and help.
By the way, I'm an average student, this is my last year of high school. My average grades from last three years of high school were 3.6. So I get 3s and 4s mostly.
Looking forward to your answers :)

You would be better off posting this in the International Thread and in the Athletic Recruits thread (if you want to play basketball). There are very few scholarships or financial aid available for International Students.
Only 6 schools that are “need blind”:
Harvard
Yale
Dartmouth
Princeton
MIT
Amherst

Here are few links that may help.

It will probably too late for you to apply to most colleges for Fall 2015. You will need to do more research about their requirements for International students such as the SAT and SATII tests, GPA and extracurricular activities. You should spend this next year focusing on what your need to do to prepare for US schools admissions, studying for the SAT’s and narrowing down your list of possible colleges based on your financial need and affordability. Good Luck.

You should sign up for the SAT as soon as possible. You can practice by ordering the College Board Blue Book and doing every practice exam. That’s really all you need. Ideally, you want your SAT to be around 2300 since you are an international student. @Gumbymom gave you a great starting point for your search. If you are interested in recruiting, I reccomend you talk to your coach about it an go to the school websites. How much can your parents pay per year?
