I am a senior with a 2.6 gpa. I applied to Azusa Pacific. My friend also applied but last year with a 2.7 gpa and only ACT scores. He got in. I have both SAT and ACT. I also want to apply to Pasadena City College incase I don't get in. What if I apply to both and get accepted to both? How can I decline one?

Many people are accepted to multiple schools. It’s polite to decline an offer of admission by email. But, if you just fail to pay the deposit, that’s all you really need to do.

To go off of what niceday said, “fail to pay the deposit” means you submit your deposit for the school you want to go to, and don’t do anything with the other.

Or you can be polite and send an email saying thank you, but I will not be attending. Some schools even provide you with a postcard to send back your decision. Some may provide the same opportunity on your online portal.

Most students who applied to 6-8 schools get admitted to several. Colleges are used to that. At most 70-75% admitted students choose to go elsewhere.
Once you know the admission decision from both, look at the financial aid package, visit, make your decision, and send an email to the school you don’t want to attend, telling them you won’t be attending their school. You don’t even need to tell them why, although of course you need to treat the email as a professional letter (polite greetings, etc, etc).
