Hey guys. I know how annoying it is to have posters asking questions with easily accessible answers, so please know that I searched the forum as best I could, as well as the internet, and didn't turn up anything very helpful. Here goes:

What are the general, basic requirements/process to complete before applying for an MBA from a top tier school?

What courses should I take in college as background for my MBA. I am double majoring at Cornell University in Music and Economics. Also, are there things I should do during at least some of my later summers, like trying to land internships or something, and if so, with what types of businesses?

Basically, you should be trying to prep yourself in a good job in the field you want to enter, whatever that field is. If you want to do banking, you should be trying to learn about banking, and hopefully get a banking summer internship. If you want to do high-tech, you should be trying to learn about high tech.

Most B-schools don't require anything as far as undergrad coursework goes. A few require statistics or calculus or maybe microecon. Since you said you'd be majoring in Econ, it doesn't look like this will be a problem. However, if you major in something else, you may also want to take these 3 courses in case you later decide you want to apply to one of those rare B-schools that require such coursework.
