What will you do the summer before college?

(to college students: is there anything in particular you would recommend doing over summer to help prepare for college?)

Work work and more work…I plan on working full time, 2-3 jobs (probably only 2). When there’s time, hang out with friends. Go to the Adirondacks with my youth group.

You get a job and hang out with friends. That’s honestly what you should do. It’ll be the last time that all of your high school friends will be still around, so just have fun and enjoy yourself in the summer before college.

Mostly working since I’ll have to cut down my hours once I get into school. I also want to take a vacation while I can maybe the week before classes just to have a break from everything.

If I can get a job (it’s nortoriously hard around here for people who are leaving in the fall), I’ll be doing that.
I also need to do some serious work on my room and closet so there’s not the unneeded stuff in my room if it’s going to be converted to a guest room. Need to figure out what I’m taking with me as well.
And hopefully I can catch up on the pleasure reading I haven’t done these past two years.

A few years a group of my friends wanted to plan a summer trip, but we’re not as close as we used to be, and I won’t have much money to spend, so I’m not sure if that’s going to work out…Will probably just do some hanging out.

I’m working still, bc I need the money.
Hanging out with the friends
I’m going on a cruise and a trip to see family
Hopefully volunteering at a hospital!! Woo! :D

I’ve had my job since my sophomore year of high school, and plan on working a lot this summer. I also plan on quitting my job at summer’s end, which I’m pretty excited for. (It’s an awesome/fun job, hence me having it for over 2 years, but I think it’ll be nice being free from employment for a while.)

So far in May/June, there’s many bands coming I’m excited to see. Hopefully once June/July tours are announced, there’ll be even more.

Don’t think I’m going on any vacations or anything.

Kind of a boring, yet kind of fun summer. I like a happy medium.

Another_Adam: I’ve been at my job for a year and a half, I deff. feel you on the excitement at quitting at the end of summer. I think having the break will be wierd to adjust to actually, but fun. lol

Not that sure, really varies. Though probably a summer job would help cover things you may want in your dorm, extra stuff… besides talking about tuition situation.

The summer before I went to college I quit my job and did as close to nothing as possible. I hung out with my friends a bunch, which I should’ve done even more of since I was leaving them and all. I always hear people suggesting that if you don’t do something meaningful, you’ll really regret it. But maybe the most meaningful thing for me was saying Good-bye to that old retail job and watching bad movies online all summer. I don’t regret it at all.

Summer:
Reading (I read up a storm in summer)
Running
Touring historical places this side of the world
Volunteering at this teaching place!!(I’m super excited about this!)
Writing for some local newspapers and magazines.
