I got completely screwed over by a camp that told me I was "guaranteed" a job till a few weeks ago. Now they told me they could only hire me part time, as in a day or two a week, only for a few hours. Not even close to the eight weeks full time I expected.

So anyways, I'm screwed over, and I have no plans for my summer now.

I realize that it's too late to apply for summer programs.

Any suggestions on what I can do?

Time to find another part time job or volunteer at a hospital or help out at a lab in a university or attend classes at a nearby university or start your own group for some cause.

or do drugs, party, get a girl pregnant.
many options my friend

If you don’t get a job, then just chill. That is what summer is for, after all, and that’s how I’ve spent every summer since forever.
I work my ass off during school, so summer is my “reward”, so to speak.

As much as I’d like to spend my summer relaxing, I’d honestly feel like I’m just wasting my time.

I live somewhat near Stanford, hopefully I’ll find something there…

Any more suggestions are welcome!

volunteer, relax, study for sat’s if you are a junior, sleep

So will colleges not care if I spend the summer relaxing?
I’m a sophomore right now, so I’ll definitely study for the SATs.
My parents are really pressuring me into finding a good volunteer opportunity / job / internship though, which is very difficult cause it’s so late.

I mean, it will definitely hinder your application to a super competitive school, but not to a state school or whatever. Just do something that relates to your interests - volunteer, get a job, take a class, etc. It doesn’t have to be hard core, it just has to show interest. Don’t forget that a year from now you may want to apply to selective internships. I think the main reason I got into SIMR is because I did something interesting my sophomore summer - in fact, pretty much everyone admitted did something their previous summer. So you can’t just do nothing, but it doesn’t have to be a fancy/competitive camp. Just do whatever you want.

Most of my summers I just chill and hang out with the family. There’s nothing wrong with doing all these things during the summer, but I think once in awhile a student should just chill. I wish I could chill out all summer but I got a Veterinary Internship, summer Job at my local store and maybe camp councilor…not sure yet.
