Long story short, my father has this military benefit from what he tells me will pay for the majority of my school tuition. When he first told me about it in my senior year, I stupidly brushed him off just because our relationship is pretty much non existent, now I regret it. Anyway I called him recently told him i want to go to a local Community college (NOVA) but he insists that Im wasting the benefit by going to a community college & that I should instead go to a "real school". While I understand where he is coming from but Im a full year out of high school & I had **** GPA/SAT scores so i highly doubt i can get into any college but He says he wont pay for a community college so I kinda feel stuck. Would re-taking the SAT help even though my GPA was horrible?

Take this with a grain of salt as I am only a high school student, but if I was in your situation, depending on your grades and the cost of your current CC and if you can continue to go there w/o financial help. I would stay because you have a way better shot at getting good grades in CC and transferring to a more prestigious school than going for a school that would accept anyone (you want your degree to mean something). Depending on how low your grades were I’m not sure if retaking the SAT would help because most school have minimum GPAs for even considering students. You could possible apply to a local university, as I hear they are more forgiving??
