My BUTI audition is this week and I just wanted to get a better idea of what to expect. I'm assuming that it will be video taped but don't know long the audition will be, if they'll have me play everything, etc. I'm in good shape for the audition itself but thought I might as well ask for more information since everybody here is so knowledgeable! :)
Thanks!

Is it at BU? MY D had one there a couple of years ago. It was video-taped and lasted about 10 mins. The person running the audition had her play parts of all of her pieces.
Good Luck!

D3 did one there a few years ago. It was in a largish space with a video camera and one person there. As a violinist, she had perhaps 10 minutes - started with Bach and only got through part of her other piece.

They had people at a registration checkin who brought her to a practice room but then she was on her own in terms of getting to the audition room afterwards. Good luck! She enjoyed her summer at BUTI; hope you do the same.

Yes, it’s at BU. Do you know if it’s just the camera person? Thanks!

In my Ds case, the camera woman was also someone important (don’t remember who now). She told my D that she would be recommending her and my D did get in…so I believe she was a director or faculty person.

This was the contact person last year:
sleiphon@bu.edu sleiphon@bu.edu

I believe she is doing it again this year and as I recall her name is Sheila (Leiphon). She was at D’s regional audition and she might actually be the Director of Admissions for BUTI.

best of luck!
