My daughter will be in Snyder-Phillips in the fall. She is planning on packing very lightly - but is wondering

Darn…hit enter too soon and can’t figure out how to edit. Anyway, she is wondering if there is anything in particular that works well in the dorm (based on layout and size) that you would recommend specifically regarding storage units/cubes, etc. I think she is planning on bringing a refrigerator and microwave - but she needs to keep things to a minimum because she also wants to bring 2 bikes. What did you find absolutely necessary for the dorm, and what do you wish you wouldn’t have brought?

I have no input on this, but the edit function is available for 15 minutes, it looks like a little cog.

Thanks, I think for some reason it wasn’t showing on my tablet. I’ll see if it shows up with this post. Edited: yes, it’s there this time. For some reason, the edit button wasn’t on my first post. Not that it matters, at this point. Glad I’m not completely losing my mind. :)

I tried to edit a first post on another thread that I started - no luck.

You can’t edit the first posts in a thread.

Sny-Phi dorms are the smallest on campus. I used those hanging shelves that can fold up from Ikea (Hung in closed- used it to store hoodies and other bulky things). Did she coordinate with her roommate about what to bring?

She will NOT be able to fit two bikes in her room. She will not be able to fit one in her room. However, there are storage units on each floor that a lot of people used to store bikes (not sure if they were technically allowed to or not, but they did).

I’d also recommend a rug if her roommate isn’t bringing one. Those floors get really cold, really quick.

Each Sny-Phi dorm has a shelving unit for each roommate. Normally, people loft their beds and then put those shelves and desks under the beds. It’s the best way to save room.

Thanks…she was thinking she could loft her bed and store her bikes underneath - do you think that won’t work?

It might work, but she’ll have a very tight fit and she’ll have to take up quite a bit of the very small common area with her desk which will no longer fit under the bed. I would check with her roommate first to make sure she’s ok with that. A lot of people used that common space for a couch or extra storage.
