The examples of rep lists for one page music resumes that I've seen (including that posted by a school that S is applying to) are classically based where the number of pieces that are really prepared to play or a student has performed is going to be fairly limited relative to jazz. So jazz folks out there, how do you decide what to put on a jazz rep list? S is a percussionist so it is double hard as you are not just listing charts that you've soloed on. He could probably play almost anything when it comes right down to it. What to start with? Charts played at festivals and workshops? Everything that you ever played at a school concert? Real Book standards? Stuff that your combo has ready for gigs? The list, it seems, could be practically endless. Thanks!

I think you should call or email and ask the schools you are applying to for jazz. Those resume samples were really helpful when my son was making his.

I agree I’d just call the school and find out. As a percussionist, he’ll most likely need to add drumset, vibraphone and hand percussion. I don’t know much about the jazz requirements but my son is a classical percussion major who does play drumset and hand percussion.
