What to look for in a college.

What are the most important things to look for when selecting a university?

your intended major (see if they have good classes for your major also)

tuition (make sure you figure out how much you can afford for dorms/parking/etc…)

location (like rural, urban, suburb)

diversity (if you want it, idk)

It all depends on you!

There are certain attributes that some people believe are universally important in picking a college. Where in the country you want to be? How big of a college do you want? What kind of environment do you want? What is your intended major? These four questions can quickly limit your search!

After that, go visit the colleges and feel the vibe on campus. When you find a college that fits you, in my experience, you will know!

Good luck!

You need to verify that any prospective college has the program(s) you want.
You also need to determine if you have a realistic chance of being admitted.
Other than that, what you look for depends on you.

Diversity, location, and even cost don’t matter equally to every student. Some people care about weather, some don’t. Ditto for size, the sports and Greek scene, the political/intellectual/social atmosphere, etc. So, try to familiarize yourself with the varieties of schools and how they differ. Then decide which features are most important to you.

As for quality, the following are common characteristics of schools competing for the best students:

 • small classes
 • high graduation rates
 • good financial aid
 • engaged students
 • good post-graduate outcomes

You can get a good education at schools that don’t meet these criteria; you can fail to get one at schools that do. Your success ultimately depends on you.

^ So, should I go to a college that has at least 3 of those 5 criteria?

Also, I DON’T know what I want my major/degree to be in.

I’m worried I don’t have much left to pick what major/degree I want, since like I said, I’m in my 2nd semester of my first year at CC.
