What to major in? Boston College

So I was accepted into the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and I’m not particularity sure what to pick my concentration in. From what I understand by reading various things is that accounting and finance are probably considered to be the “best” business majors. However, personally I don’t think that I would find either of them very interesting or enjoyable to do. Boston College also calls their majors concentrations not really sure what the difference is if any. My ultimate goal and wish is to work in sports in some way but, I am too afraid to major in sports management because of how specific it is and people say that it isn’t a “good” major. One of BC’s concentrations is Management and Leadership which seems pretty interesting to me. Would Management and Leadership be something that you would advise some one to major in especially if I want to get a job in the sports industry in some capacity.

Thank You

I can’t chime in on which to pick, but generally the difference between a major and a concentration is that all students within a major will receive the same degree “Bachelors of X”, but concentrations help to distinguish the students.

You do not need to pick a major now. Most every business school requires that students take core business classes which include introduction level classes in accounting, marketing, finance, economics, information technology, business law etc. It is fine to start off as an undecided business major, take some classes, see where you interests and aptitudes lie, and then declare a major.

Congratulations on your acceptance.
