What to put for extracurricular activities?

The application is asking me for an activity, any awards I’ve won, and my position. The problem with this is, I’ve never really participated in any school sports or clubs. I figured i’d put down my personal hobbies, such as programming, and other stuff I work on outside of school, but I don’t really have any ‘awards’ for these, nor do I really have a position in my independent studies/activites.

That’s fine to put down programming. Fully half of my daughter’s ECs were coding related and completely outside of school. She coded as a hobby, was a co-creator and admin for a fiction writers’ forum, and did paid website design – w/o taking a single CompSci or coding class in HS. I’d say 99% of her classmates didn’t even know she did this stuff. She applied and was accepted into multiple CompEngr schools.

There were no “leadership” positions or awards associated with this. You’re fine as long as you list outside interests with some academic bent – not casual stuff like “weightlifting” or “collecting stamps”
