Besides a message confirming my further interest and saying that I would definitely attend if admitted, is there anything else to put? I know other schools say that you can submit information such as letter of recs and updates, but on the Yale waitlist FAQ it states:
We reach these decisions on the basis of the same information that was available to the admissions committee in March. There is no need to submit additional information unless there is some new area of activity that is especially important to you and that was not covered in your application. In addition, although you are always welcome to visit the campus, it is important to note that our staff does not conduct evaluative interviews during this period.
So is there anything else I could add that would help me besides what’s stated above?
The only question I have is whether there is value in simply letting Yale know that you are very interested in getting in from the waiting list. I know that sometimes guidance counselors call schools and tell them that Joe will definitely attend if he is taken from the waiting list–I kind of doubt if this would make much difference at Yale, really. But if you do have anything new, I think it’s worth sending the letter.
