Greetings, everybody. I just finished the exam(self-studied) last week. I am wondering what other AP classes would be some good options for me? I will be a junior next year and world history is my first AP. My school does not provide any AP, so i will probably self-study again. Any suggestions or past experience? And also is it good to take the sat subject test on world history next year? I heard it is a lot more detailed… Thank you very much!
It really depends on what schools you are aiming for. I could reccomend an exam to take, but if your college doesn’t offer credit for it, it would be pointless
@CaliCash For me the credit doesn’t necessarily have to be accepted (Of course i wish they would accept all, cuz world history is not popular to get credit at all) because of two reasons: 1. I would probably take the same course again. 2. Since my school doesn’t have any ap, i really have no need to take ap exams. But i just wanna challenge myself and learn more.
And i am aiming for top 50 universities(top 30 the best) and LAC. I know a lot of them don’t give credit for world history.
ap us history would be a good self study
Get the AMSCO book for it
Then why don’t you just study on your own free time and take a practice test if the credits don’t matter?
@CaliCash Oh, no no. I meant that i take ap exams not only for credits but also for nourishment. I checked out many universities’ websites and they all have their own policy. Plus, my future major is undecided and i don’t really know what universities i really like. Therefore i probably wanna take the ap exams which are mostly accepted by colleges and suitable for independent study as well.
I know that taking ap exams that are related to our future major is the best. Also, i have consulted many college admissions about not having any APs. Pretty much all of them answered that they expected students to take the most rigorous courses offered by their school, thus having no AP won’t decrease my chance. But it is always good to see students challeging themselves(self-study ap).
Thank you!
Any suggestions?
Ap euro would be a good test considering world covers some euro. I took AP us gov and I loved it (even though it was different that world, and was relatively easy to study for). I’ve heard that psych is an easy self study, and I took the micro test and it was easy enough. I have also heard that AP enviormental science is an easy self study.
You could self study AP Human geography
I would recommend taking AP European History of AP US History, as they both examine some of the concepts and places touched upon in AP World, except in greater detail. Alternatively, you could try to self study AP Micro/Macro if you felt an inclination toward some of the economic aspects of AP World. Just choose a subject that you fell interests you, and you’ll have a blast learning it! Good luck, and happy studying.
Thank you all! I got a 5!
Check this page out: https://apstudent.collegeboard.org/apcourse
That is a list of all the APs college board provides. They are categorized by subject, so look under the subject that interests you. Your choices are arts, English, history & social studies, math & computer sciences, sciences, and world language & culture. You may want to click on the AP that interests you and read the description college board provides. To figure out difficulty level, do some searching on CC.
Most of the suggestions on this thread are for history & social studies. If you enjoyed world history, start there. I’d suggest APUSH or AP Euro. If you want to branch out into math or science, try something easy first, like AP Envo. You could also try AP Stats.
Thank you all! Now I am first considering what SAT2 test to take next year. What do you guys think about SAT2 world history compared to AP world? Since I just got a 5, I do not want to waste the things I learned in AP. Or is it better to take American History? And what prep books do you guys recommend for world history? Thanks so much.

Happy 2K16 guys! I am a junior and i am going to take this test in May. I have regular US history class(my school only has ap spanish …lol) this year but it only covers part(i guess up to 50%?) of the textbook. so that doesn’t really help a lot. I plan to just read the PR sat book for content review, mainly because i self-studied ap WH last year and got a 5 pretty much just by reading PR. How are the practice tests in PR? Do i need to but other prep books for content or practice test? Thank you so much! I just start to prepare now, would that give me enough time? I really appreciate your help.
I took APUSH and SAT USH exams
