S is a jazz pianist and will be recording next month for college screenings. I never thought about what to wear on a DVD and his choice would be a button down shirt/jeans. I looked on You Tube and found full suit/ties all the way to tennis shoes/t-shirt/jeans. Any advice on this?
Thanks -

Don’t know about what to wear for a jazz applicant, just be sure to wear the same thing if you record on more than one day.

^Even if it’s two different pieces?

How important it is to make it appear that you made an audition DVD all in one session? Just curious if it counts against an applicant.

My D did her DVD in 2 sessions. She wore the same outfit and had her hair fixed the same way. We noticed later that her hair was noticeably longer in the last half of her DVD. It didn’t matter.

I’d dress the same and at least attempt to make it look like the recording was done in one sitting. Your S couldn’t go wrong wearing black pants and a black, button down shirt.

@Flute - I did notice that the kids were wearing the same things throughout the recording.

@Mezzo - great idea with black/black - hs “music uniform” so he has plenty.
