what to wear for Emory interviews?

My classmate has an interview next wednesday and I tell her dressy casual is ok, she says no, a suit or similar is more appropriate, what's your take?

Is this one of the ones in Chicago?

my opinion..is dress according to the location of the interview. Office of any alum....wear a suit or a dress with jacket or pants with jacket that you would wear on a job interview...office uniform pieces,

if meeting at Starbucks...modest clothing..step it up to business casual..no jeans, no skin, no dirty tennis shoes...but still look like you are applying for a job

I agree with Faline. It really depends on where you are having the interview. If it's at an office, definitely a suit whereas more casual places may entail a sweater/polo and khakis.

nothing. go naked

I guess suit then is more appropiate, right? even if Emory is in the South, where warm weather prevails?
I assume is in campus interview, but I need to find out.

I am confused about your weather question. Atlantans wear suits in November and year round. Is this interview taking place in Atlanta or another locale...regardless, you are under an obligation to present as someone who is being evaluated, and to take into consideration the locale and atmosphere of the interview. Even if you are driving to the home of an alum, which can be disconcerting/unexpected but happens--good shoes, neat, probably a good idea to wear separates with blazer or jacket, tie optional in coffee shops or home visits. Dress as if you are applying for a job, grant, loan or scholarship. You may tone it down at a coffee shop, but your clothing should not be grungy/too trendy no matter where you are, and you should be looking hard at context for interviews, and err on conservative rather than too casual.

Thank you, Faline for your insightful comment. I will let my classmate know.
As for the weather, it was not meant to be disrectpectful. I am from the Northwest and I am not sure what people wear in the South for these occasions

I just didn't understand what you meant..I have visited Vancouver but not Seattle and was struck by the casual outdoors clothing everywhere...and so many people in good exercise clothes around
Atlanta is more formal and conservative than the NW...as is Richmond or Charlotte. I have lived in Atlanta four times. I live in Virginia now. I worked on property on Clifton Road at Emory, too. Go with a neat business look with separates is my advice. You can wear unstructured skirt, pants etc..but wear a blazer or jacket....

I think you can err on the side of being overdressed for an interview--especially in Atlanta or any other southern city. The level of care you take in dressing can only impress the interviewer with your level of interest in the school.
