the teachers at my school require us to write them a couple paragraphs about ourselves before they write us our letter of recommendations. they generally ask us questions like:
why should i recommend you?
what sets you apart from other students?
what would you like me to say about you?
give us specific anecdotes
and what not. do you have any suggestions on what i should include in my paragraphs? i attend a very competitive high school so it's hard to say what sets me apart from other students.

Speak from your heart. Be specific about yourself.

Hopefully you chose teachers who know you - more than a warm body in a classroom…either through science fair, an EC, having taken multiple classes with same teacher during the 4 yrs etc.

These are the kinds of questions you would likely get in a college interview.

Maybe these things will help spark ideas:

What is your passion? Why are certain classes your favorites…what have you done with that beyond the four walls of your classes…
What do you do with your time outside of class, why?
If it was your obit–what would someone write about you–who are you important to and why? Do you serve somewhere? Are you interested in politics, the environment etc?

Hope this helps. One other thing you could do–is sit down with your parents, your siblings…ask them these things–what do they think/see? They see a bigger picture of you and maybe able to help get those ideas/comments etc coming.
Things that make you special that they see–you may not see in yourself. It is nice to hear how others see us.

Good luck.
