Hi, I am a junior in high school and I am worried I wont get accpeted into a good school... so with my achievements below, could one just tell me what types of schools I can get into? Also do I have a good shot at NYU or BU?

-GPA Unweighted: 3.20
-GPA Weighted: 4.17
-SAT Score: 1810 .. 630 in Math and 590 in Reading
-Dual Enrolled at my local college ... my College GPA is 3.67 unweighted.
-I take exclusively ALL AP and Honors courses.
-I took and passed AP Human Geography and AP World History in 9th and 10th grade respectively.
-As a junior I take 3 AP Classes alongside 2 Dual Enrollment classes.

NON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
-I am apart of the Model UN, Key Club and National Honors Society
-I founded, and am VP of a group at my school that helps 'special' children, and you work with them.
-I am apart of an ambassador club to orient new students to our school.
-I participate in School Golf and out of school Ice Hockey.
-I work 20-25 hours a week at a restaurant job.
-I have 40 community service hours.. and I a racking atleast 7 a week now!

So with these achievements, do you think I have a realistic shot to get into a good school, like the following?

(My Top 10 Choices)
1. NYU
2. Georgetown
3. UPENN
4. Boston College
5. Duke University
6. Brown
7. Penn State
8. Boston University
9. UCF
10. MIT

Your list is very reach heavy. On your original post, all the schools would be likely rejections aside from UCF. A realistic reach would be a Syracuse caliber school.

If you are only a junior in high school right now, you should definitely retake the SAT, after studying for it. Also try the ACT, which many people think is less “confusing.”
Testing does suck, but it is really worth it to have tests that really represent your academic ability.
I have to echo the previous poster, however, and say your original list, except UCF, are not just reaches- they’re unrealistic reaches.

If you’re only a junior, you’ve got time to get your test scores up. Have you tried ACT? Sign up for a class or get a tutor or self-study - you need to bump up your SAT. It’s very do-able. Also, you’re going to need subject tests for many of those schools. I’d focus on taking SAT again, ACT for first time, and subject tests (pick the ones that coincide w/ your APs) - see where you are the end of junior year. It’s good to have a list at this stage, but right now it’s mostly reaches based on current score. Good luck.

Oh to be clear … the SAT I took was online 5 months ago… I retook one online (Khan Acadamy) and I am seeing my SAT scores for math at 690 … and reading at 620 already…

On November 30th I took a full length ACT practice Science test and got a 32 … I then paid for my my math and got a 31 … I have NO CLUE if those scores are good … but I plan to redo my scores and take SAT / ACT prep courses outside of school … my goal, and to my teachers not unrealistic at all… is to get my overall SAT score to a 1960 and get all of my ACT’s above 30.
