What Type of Major Should I Be Interested In for a Backup Plan?

I'm applying to a bunch of schools for Film Production & Cinematography, but I've been rethinking my future and although Film is my passion and I'd love to work in the field when I'm older, what would be some smart decisions for a backup? I'm looking at schools like Emerson, Purchase, RIT, BU, etc. and I'd like to know if I should minor in something, major in something, any suggestions overall?

I'm just mainly looking for like, an alternative, basically like what would pretty much look good for a general job or something in the communications field if Film didn't work out for me? Thanks for your help!

BUMP! please help me out here, i'm freaking out

Business - it goes without saying

Psychology - can lead to work in human resources and some other business-related fields

Teacher's certification - added to your theater/communications type degree

Communication, marketing, business, finance...those plus your film major could perhaps get you into the business side of the movie business if filmmaking doesn't work out for you.

After the first couple of years out of college, though, your work history and accomplishments carry a lot more weight than your college major. Employers care more about what you've done than what you've studied once you're not an entry-level employee. And many people get jobs in fields unrelated to their major. Start asking the adults in your life what their college major was, vs. what they do for a living. You may be surprised.

accounting -- there is always work for accountants. It could be a good entry into the movie business too -- and it IS a business..

Journalism.

And Hollywood accounting is among the most creative ever devised.

touche, barrons :)
