So I've been checking out the 6 colleges that UCSD has. Because the application requires me to list the colleges in the order that I want to attend them, I'm having a lot of trouble picking which college is best for me. I hate writing, and am somewhat into math. I also enjoy science, but am not into engineering. Because of that, I think Warren is one of my middle but not exactly top choices. What do you think is the best college for me?

Also, does the college that I pick significantly affect my major?
Thanks a lot!

The college you pick does not directly affect your major. However, some colleges have more GE’s than others but generally your college doesn’t slow down your rate of graduation (your major does). Every college has all types of majors.

Go online and find out the reqs for all the colleges. Think about what you like and don’t like. If you don’t like writing then ERC and Revelle probably aren’t your top choices. Remember, all colleges at UCSD have intensive writing courses and you will have to write in your classes even if you are a science major. Your ability to write can significantly affect your grade in a class (any class).

Think about location. Does it matter if you are far away from the center of campus? Does the theme of your college matter? Ex: ERC- global citizenship, Marshall- social justice, etc.

Honestly, whatever college you end up choosing you will end up loving. I got one of my last choice colleges. At first I was terrified and upset, now I couldn’t be happier that I got that college. It really helped make my college experience.

nicolep - thank you so much for your reply! Not only did it help me, but it also calmed me down! ;)

my major is computer science, and I have not taken many GEs so far in my CC college…I have done Microeconomic, English and Composition, Critical Thinking and Foreign Language…which one of the colleges do you guys suggest me to apply to so that these 4 courses overlap the GE requirement they want me to take at that specific college?!
