what univ. of USA has department of Opto-electronics

I am a chinese undergraduate. I want to apply a Phd of opto-electronics or optical information. So anybody can tell me some information about the colleges. and if any university has some programs of opto-electronics and the information of prefessors majored in that field

I know that the University of Rochester has definitely one of the best--if not THE best--optics programs in the country...Rochester, NY is home to Bausch & Lomb, and Xerox, and much of the money for the optics profram comes from them.

3x a billion, but is there any other ones especially more related to opto-electronics than to physics

I heard a classmate say the University of Central Florida has a strong optics program. I cannot speak intelligently about their program though; here is the link http://www.creol.ucf.edu/

The three universities that I can think of that have an optics or optical sciences department are University of Rochester, Univeristy of Arizona, and University of Central Florida. Your interests might be met in an electrical engineering or applied physics department. Some schools that are fairly strong in optics stuff off the top of my head are: Stanford, USC, Caltech, UC Berekely, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, U of Washington, U of Colorado, U of Michigan, U of Illinois, Purdue, Cornell, Princeton, MIT, Columbia, Harvard, Boston University. I would strongly suggest speaking with a professor in an area that you are inte rested in. You should also read some journal articles on research that you find interesting, and see where the professors who write them are located. If you are interested in Canada, U of Toronto is good.
