Thank you everyone for posting. This offers a lot of insight to me and others when making our list and discovering more schools. Can anyone else post their list?
Here’s my list! Hope it helps someone. My parents said they would only pay for in state colleges. I live in Virginia so that wasn’t a problem. My dad also didn’t want me to apply to a lot of schools (cost money).
Reaches: N/A
Matches: Old Dominion University, Radford University, George Mason University, and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
Safety: Tidewater Community College
I got in to all of those and I just graduated from Radford University. I’m heading off to Texas Tech for grad school. I would change somethings around if I was applying for undergrad. I thought I would enjoy a more urban environment but I actually found it overwhelming. I loved my time at Radford and it was a great school experience. I don’t regret a thing.
New list
Reaches: Roanoke College
Matches: University of Mary Washington, Longwood University, Hollins University, and Radford University
Safety: Tidewater Community College
Stats: GPA: 4.33/4.0, SAT: 2300/2400
Reaches:
MIT
Caltech
Cornell
Target:
GIT
Safeties:
RPI
RIT
Didn’t make MIT and Caltech, made Cornell though and currently go there (just finished my first year, it was great!)
Back in 2012…
Reaches:
Vanderbilt
Emory
Tufts
BC
WashU
Matches:
BU
Northeastern
University of Texas
Case Western
I got into all of my matches and was rejected at all my reaches besides BC where I was waitlisted. I wound up attending BU and had a fairly good experience there. I think it expanded my worldview and I got some really cool experiences that only would have happened at the school but I think I missed out on big D1 sports and that community and spirit. If I did it again my list would be:
Reaches:
BC
Davidson
Wake Forest
UNC
Matches:
Same
As of now I have just graduated and will be attending grad school at the University of Michigan.
