Is 4200 good for OOS?
An EI of 4200 is competitive for OOS and in-state, but as many applicants are finding out is that much depends upon the # of applicants for each major and their EI’s (stats) . SDSU will rank applicants by EI and major and accept from the top down until all spots are filled. Local in-state applicants get priority but they still need to be competitive. As SDSU continues to get more applicants (around 84,000 this year), the # of applicants they accept remains the same so the competition increases each year.
My suggestion is to strive for the highest possible EI before you apply. Even with high EI’s there are never any guarantees.
I saw a 4300+ EI rejected this year but the majority of rejections (at least the ones posted on CC) have been below 4200.
