So I am entering my 2nd year as a sophomore in high school... and I was wondering what courses you guys took during your sophomore, junior, and senior year. Currently, I am sort of in a dilemma between taking honors chemistry or regular chemistry. If I take honors chem, the highest grade that I could receive is a B+ or B, but I'm feeling that I will get below a B. Any suggestions and tips for the rest of the high school year? And throughout my senior year? I'm planning to major in computer science or health and medicine

I would highly reccomend taking at lest bio, chem, and physics throughout your 4 years. I also think AP bio is an extremely valuabe course, at least it was for me. Also, if your school has any interesting computer classes or AP computer science those would probably be helpful. I’m taking AP computer science rn ad it’s interesting.

You don’t know that. Regardless, colleges will want to see that you have taken the most rigorous schedule possible and not compromised to salvage your GPA.

Sophomore: English V, honours precalc, honours chem, Latin III, European history, music theory (trimester), litigation independent study (trimester)

Junior: American lit, AP calc AB, AP chem, honours physics, honours optics (trimester), US history, photography (trimester)

Senior: AP English lit, AP calc BC, AP stats, AP physics, Ancient Greek, Shakespeare independent study (trimester), logic (trimester)

(We can only take AP classes starting junior year and they discourage students from taking more than 2 a year)

If you can get through honours chem with a B+ or even a B, then I say do it. If not, go for regular. It’s especially important to be taking high-level classes if science seeing as you want to go into that field (medicine in particular - you’re going to need to know a lot of chemistry for that).
