ok so my school determines class rank by weighted gpa, and only puts weighted gpa on transcripts. honors and AP classes count higher than normal classes including electives. we can take 7 classes. im gonna be junior next year, should i take all 7 ap/honor so my gpa and class rank will increase? or should i just take some and take fun electives like wrestling and theatre arts (on level, so lower gpa) my class rank now is like 100/900, so what should i do? will vanderbilt like wrestling and theatre over AP classes? thanks

well to get into vanderbilt it is not just all about numbers. they take into account all your extracurriculars and activities. do you have to take the class to be in the program? if not then I would say to take as many of those AP/honors classes as you can. Dont just take my advice though. Ask others too. Talk to your guidance counselor. He or she will have invaluable information for you and they could probably answer your questions a lot better.

take honors/ap and do well in them, if you can’t, take the fun electives

The correct answer is that you’re going to take all AP/honors classes and do well in them because:
- You can handle that kind of a courseload.
- More importantly, because you WANT to take those classes.
