What Would You Do Differently?

With one minute until March 10 EST, I wanted to make a thread to help the future generations of CCers. After the whole application process what would you do differently? I will bump this sometime in probably October or so to benefit the new and giddy 8th graders of fall '09!

What I personally would do differently:
I would look more into schools outside of the northeast. (I really wish I has looked more into Episcopal High School, the Asheville School, and Thacher.)

I wish I wasn't against looking into single-sex schools. At the time, I couldn't imagine not going co-ed, but now I regret not looking at some of the great all-girls' schools. Especially Miss Hall's, Emma Willard, and possibly Miss Porter's.

I wish I had not gone with my preconceived notions about which schools were "top-tier", given that I had no idea what I was talking about due to how little I knew about BS at the time.

Anyone have anything to add?

I wish I looked into more schools especially Deerfield and Choate. Also, I shouldn't of had a pre-conceived notion that some schools were better than others! Otherwise I would've applied to Groton or Milton or NMH or any of the all-girls' schools mentioned by Ceralina!

I wish I had looked out of state more. CT schools are nice, but Williston Northmpton and NMH both look cool.

The something Whitemen school in Colorado looks awesome. Like my dream school.

I'll tell you what I did wrong once I get my rejection letter ;)

I wish I had applied to eight schools I truly loved as WELL as eight schools my parents would allow me to attend.

I wish I had not interviewed in the west coast, wasting approximately $1200 in cash in the process.

I wish I had written first drafts for all my application essays in October like I had planned.

I wish I had immersed myself more in academics rather than contributing towards the yearbook.

I wish I had not contemplated at night the possibilities of where I'd been accepted, where I would go, how I would manage, until I realized that there were things I would miss out on.

I wish I had not slept in so much during Christmas break.

I wish I weren't so jealous of a friend of mine who's also applying, jealous that they have perfect stats while mine seem subpar.

There are a lot of things I would wish. But that's what makes them special, right? :)

fist bump special twin power! Shape of an acceptance letter!

Well, I got into my first choice...so nothing I guess, wouldn't want to screw it up

I wish we would have considered it all sooner -- We didn't even consider it til late October & son took SSAT and had 2 interviews within 10 days of even considering BS

Also -- wish we would have had more time to look at other schools -- Would have liked to have seen Andover & Choate

I regret only applying to Exeter but thats all I could convince my parents to let me do. I also regret not studying for the SSAT's and I think that's why I got waitlisted

i really wish that i had gone to all the schools before i wrote all my essays and stuff.
