I am from the Mid Atlantic region and have narrowed down my school options to 2 final choices.

Wake Forest Law offered me a large scholarship which would only leave me paying $8700 a year in tuition

William and Mary offered me a scholarship that would leave me paying $19200 a year in tuition.

A dream would be to practice in Washington DC, however, I do not know which to pick in this case.

I don’t really know much about this so I can’t give you my input.

However, do you mind sharing your stats for a youngin’ looking to get into law school in a couple years, with a scholarship hopefully

This is probably a dumb question, but if you wanted to practice with a DC firm, why didn’t you apply to a school near DC such as Georgetown, GWU, American, Maryland, George Mason etc.? Many of these have just as good a reputation as the ones that you noted and have the advantage of being well known among DC firms.

Are there any conditions on keeping the scholarship? For example,

Do you have to maintain a 3.3 (or some other gpa) to keep your scholarship?

Is your scholarship automatically renewable on your simply having to be in good standing to keep your scholarship?

If there is a choice between the 2 take the school with the maintaining good standing, so that you can have guaranteed money (even if it is choice b). Keep in mind your grade will be based on just the final exam and many schools have a mandatory mean with limits on the number of A’s that can be given in the class.

Definitely check up on what is required to keep your scholarships. Some of the lower tier law schools give out great scholarships to student, but they need a certain GPA to maintain it. The catch is that their grading system is on a certain curve, which makes it nearly impossible to maintain the scholarship unless the student is the very top of his/her class.

THE College of William and Mary

According to Law.com the top go-to law school report of law schools that yielded the highest percentage of graduates hired by NLJ 250 firms.

Williams and Mary is ranked 28 with 214 JDs conferred in 2010 and 33 first year Associates in NLJ 250 firms 15.42%

Wake is ranked # 30 with 166 JDs conferred and 25 first year associates in NLJ 250 firms 15.02

Not a huge deal in the rankings. Take the school that gives you the best chance of keeping your money while graduating with the least amount of debt
