The only requirement is that it's something you, personally, find fun.

Hey so sorry to piggy-back on the op's thread, but I'm having an issue with my answer to this essay question: IT'S TOO LONG!!!! I physically cannot make my answer conform to 100 words. It is impossible. Do you think it will be a major detriment if mine is appx. 150?

A few words over is fine. 50% too long is going to be noted by the readers.

Yea I'd say around 120 max. Those took me forever to get down, and the 40 word ones were even worse.

I wrote about playing with my band in this one and how we formed and how we played over 60 shows in CT/Mass over a year and a half before half of them left to go to college and we had to take a break.

i was deciding between DJing and beatboxing... but then i thought... Disc jockeying kinda combines everything hehee

@ phymm: maybe that would be more appropriate for the supplemental section? Not saying it's inappropriate where it is, but if you're having a hard time fitting it into the word limit, and thinking of sending in extra stuff, it sounds like a great candidate for the optional supplemental section.

Chess or basketball are both fine options, as long as you truly enjoy them. I said that I liked to read for fun, which was and remains absolutely true (if I'm having a bad day, I visit a library, no joke). I mention this because that's one of the examples that people often think is too cliche, or predictable, or "not actually fun" but a sneaky way to seem intellectual, or whatever- but it worked for me. There's a reason they actually say "This is not a trick question" on the application.

Originally, I wrote a paragraph about how I love watching videos on the internet of talented musicians performing, and while I do really love doing that, I decided to have more fun with the essay and rewrote it. I wrote about how much I love eating. Admittedly, I do enjoy eating more than anything else in the world.

XD I wrote about how being with my friends was enjoyable/relaxing for me. Just hanging out, going shopping, camping, catching up with friends from elementary school and keeping in contact with others around the world like my France exchange twin or my cousins in Korea.

P.S.:Oh, and I totally understood everything that was said in that StarCraft sentence! Defilers and Lurkers/Hydras = Pwnage :P That's why if you ever face a good Zerg player, you need a range of direct and indirect combat units. Most people just pull out the Siege Tanks as Terran, but fail to realize that with a few well placed Dark Swarms, and they're out of commission.

I talked about doing puzzles with my mom. A bit cheesy, but apparently it worked...?

Well so you guys are still old school BW players, eh? I played BW until a few months after SC2 came out, and I generally watch/play SC2 now. You have to realize although tanks are weakened by dark swarm, they’ll still smash hydra/lurk anyways. At least they aren’t totally useless like 90% of terran units are in that situation.

I wrote about playing in my school’s chess club. I felt it was pretty unstructured and relaxing, we were just trying to have fun, and there were no mandatory meetings or anything, and we’d joke around a lot.

I wrote about singing in my shower hahah. I honestly don’t think this question was meant to be taken as seriously as you guys make it. Just choose something you go to when you’re having a bad day.
