bo_bombers, my answer to you is this:
I don't insisit on bringing the topic up, but since Cavalier302 obviously thinks his response might offend someone (about sundresses and pearls) - obviously referring to me - and for the first time in this thread I said I enjoy ridiculing sororities as part of what I love to do here. This thread is after all dedicated to contributing your views, even if in they are in the form of jokes. I mean, are you too mature a girl you might as well be a grandma or what? Get over it.

haha... you're completely ridiculous. I'm not even going to waste my time.

Lol I think you're the one who is wasting your time by trying to vent your anger on my pessimistic view about the greek life. Go grandma! EEEzzzyy Deezeeeee!

Wow. You are a d-bag. WE GET IT. You don't like Greeks. I'm getting the distinct impression they don't like you a whole lot, either.

Are you really that determined to be bitter and hate everyone? Honestly, I'm convinced the only people that don't like UVA are the ones who wouldn't like school anywhere. Seems to me you're just all too ready to jump down everyone's throat when they enjoy doing something that's at all different from you. For example, when you see a nicely dressed girl in a sundress who would never, ever talk to you while you're walking around in the XXXL Lord of the Rings t-shirt that you slept in last night after you finished playing Everquest and haven't washed in 3 weeks, you get upset and bitter and complain a lot about Greeks. Now if Tolkien and role-playing games really are your thing, that's fine. I was just taking a stab in the dark at what a person such as yourself might enjoy. I can respect whatever you want to do with your free time, whether it's Greek or independent, in a bowtie or a t-shirt, out with friends or by yourself, whatever. I would just appreciate if you'd stop getting down on those us who enjoy getting dressed up and having a good time.

it's great if you can respect opinions!

Yeah, too bad you can't seem to manage it.

"Why are you such a tool on this message board?"

Good call- that sums up events pretty well. Tools thrive on attention, though. It's best if you just ignore it.

"Go grandma! EEEzzzyy Deezeeeee!"

That is extremely offensive.

I would like to repeat something cavalier302 once said: people can be deeper than they appear if you give them chances.

^one of the MOST important things to remember in life.

Tell me what you love about UVA, stop this!! Please?

I love sundresses.

aw, semiserious, i like wearing sundresses too but i also like Lord of the Rings and I would never snub anyone i didn't know was worthy of snubbing. ;) But i gotcha. What i LOVE about UVA (right now, anyway) is how excited it makes me feel about going there.

I like the architecture. I think old tommy knew what he was doin.

"people can be deeper than they appear if you give them chances."

I will remember this quote, and I truly agree with it. :D^

semiserious: Wow, what a heinous response. You snub and judge someone who snubs and judges other people, and do you really think that makes you any better? Way to take the high road.

"semiserious: Wow, what a heinous response. You snub and judge someone who snubs and judges other people, and do you really think that makes you any better? Way to take the high road."

Nah, the person she (semiserious) attacked had been consistingly posting the kind of stuff he posted. So i guess Semiserious feels that there should be an end/

Instigating someone by insulting them isn't a way to end things, and I'm sure she knows this.

If anything can be mentioned on this thread, it is the fact that I love U.Va. for bringing people to reality. We live in a world of stereotypes, and more problematic, we live in a world where people stirve to fulfill their 'predetermined' stereotypes. Whether based on race, class, smarts, we all come into U.Va. thinking we need to spend the next four years being the person others want us to be.

Well, I love this place because somewhere a long the way we all realize we're just playing a game, and whether its a slow realization, failure, or a tragedy that opens our eyes, we realize that the facade doesn't make the person. The sundress, the tie, the long white tee, the buzz cut, none of that tells me anything about who someone is.

More importantly, what you value in people goes beyond what you find on the surface. Just as someone said, people become deeper whe you give them a chance. I love that I can say that now my best friends at the University are the very people I wanted nothing to do with in high school.

I love UVa because it follows you for the rest of your life. No matter where you go, you have an immediate connection w/ other Wahoos. Most of my close friends in NY are alums that I met AFTER I graduated.

Pizzelle, I don't know if you actually read what I wrote, but I definitely encouraged Tenniscraze to continue doing whatever he wanted to do, and that I wouldn't judge/snub him.

You should have been around for what he said in the Fraternities/Sororities thread...believe me, you would have wanted to give him a piece of your mind too.

I loved the diversity. It was such a melting pot of people, religions, etc.

-Tiki Barber's favorite part about going to UVA, in his own words

finally someone at uva who doesnt like that whole-pearl-sundress concept. while i did meet many nice people, i believe, in order to have a good time at uva, you must learn to completely ignore what people think of you.
