What you LOVE about UVA

In response to my criticisms about stuff in UVA, I am creating this thread to prove haters that I don't "storm... negativity" about this school. Let me start....

I LOVE:
- The greenery; blooming flowers in the spring
- Going to Clemons library to talk and laugh with people on the 4th floor
- The tennis courts (so many courts but you have to book in advance)
- Amazing professors in the social science and history departments
- Professor Richard Handler; everyone should take his ANTH225 class coz he will make you think differently about our society

I'd agree with the first, third and last. I took Anthro 225 in the first semester of my first year and it's still one of the best three courses I've taken at UVa. I do like the social atmosphere at Clemons but I can't study there if my life depended on it.

Personally, what I like about UVa is the outdoors and scenery of Charlottesville.

Dude, Handler is THE MAN! He's such a genius that when you ask him a question, he'll give you a really thought-provoking answer that you will just be gasped.

I love the vibrant student life, fun football games, preppy student body and the great variety of people and opinions.

"Great variety of people and opinions" - it's great if you can respect opinions!

What does that have to do with anything?

Nothing, I just said it's wonderful to be able to respect other's opinions. That's all. :)

Okay. (10)

I LOVE:

-the GROUNDS, the lawn, the rotunda, etc.
-the Corner
-all sorts of unique and cool people
-the immense school pride

Yay for this thread. :)

I love...

-attending football games in a sundress, if I so choose
-the creative signs and ways of showing support at sporting events...one guy shaved his chest hair into a V at a basketball game--I saw him on ESPN!
-the GORGEOUS Grounds
-all the friendly students and future students I've met
-C'Ville itself, especially the ice-skating rink
-the amazing variety of activities that are bought to campus
-the spectacular academic reputation

And I'm sure this list will explode once I'm actually a student. :)

You'd better watch out in that sundress, semiserious, you might offend someone!

What if it's an orange sundress and I put a Virginia sticker on my cheek? I want to have my cake and eat it too.

It was a reference to people who don't like the whole "guys in ties, girls in pearls" part of UVA, lol. Please do wear your sundress; I'll be in jacket, tie, khakis...

Ode to UVa:

I love the intelligent people I've met thus far.
I love the Grounds.
I love reading on the Lawn.
I love the storied history.
I love rising to the challenge of the faculty.
I love the sports, the AFC, and the tennis courts.
I love coffee on the Corner.

I love UVa!

"What if it's an orange sundress and I put a Virginia sticker on my cheek? "

One of the rising second years wears an orange tuxedo to football games.... hahaha

I also love:
- Being able to ridicule sororities in sundresses here! It's pretty awesome. And it's even merrier to laugh at when they have pearls on them :) [I am sorry if this offends people who are for "ties and pearls" and "sundresses." Cavalier302, maybe you'd like to wear pearls too? lol.]

Random question - Why do you insist on bringing up the fraternity/sorority debate again and again? Are you that determined to flame/troll this board?

Er, I believe Cavalier302 brought it up first, so ask him that question not me. This was what he said:

"It was a reference to people who don't like the whole "guys in ties, girls in pearls" part of UVA, lol. Please do wear your sundress; I'll be in jacket, tie, khakis..."

Theres no mention of the word "fraternity" or "sorority" in his post. Only a reference to a style of dress...so again - my question goes to you: Why are you such a tool on this message board? We've all gotten the point that you're not very fond of fraternity and sorority life at UVa - Grow up & get over it.

i like this thread. stop debating!! obviously everybody loves SOMETHING about UVA, so just let them say it, and if you don't agree just be happy that in the generalist sense you both agree on how awesome of a place it is.
