i have no summer work
I’ll probably read a few books for LANG
start IDs for APUSH
and review for ap chem

For all you AP chem kids, they changed the curriculum, you don’t have memorize anymore, its focused more on interpretation. Check out the new curriculum for fall 2013.

Yes, summer is the prime time for resume bolstering! (especially for incoming juniors like myself)
For the first month, I’ll be cramming in APUSH AP Chem, AP Stats and AP Lang summer homework and self studying AP psych and AP comp gov
Afterwards, for two weeks, I’ll be touring Europe with my youth symphony! One of our concerts is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Austria, so we’ll get to mingle with the ambassador (which is so great, especially because I want to pursue diplomacy and international relations)
And then for 6 weeks I’ll be in San Francisco for the Summer Institute for International Affairs, which is sponsored by a think tank, the World Affairs Council
For my last 3 weeks, I’ll be in China, starting my own microcredit financing nonprofit

I am so not ready for junior year omg

Well, our school doesn’t give summer homework, and I’ve always wondered why, but I think after 3 years there, I’ve figured it out. Our guidance department isn’t the best, and often doesn’t have the master schedule of classes ready by the end of the school year. They’ll have the requests in fine, but with standardized tests at the end (APs, Keystones) they’re busy. I’m not sure if the current most competent one there does scheduling, and the one I had previously who was always on the ball with things like scheduling and whatnot was moved to the middle school.
This results in students not being knowing the classes they’re actually taking until, typically, mid-August.

So what will I be doing this summer? Probably prepping for the October SAT and not much else. I may learn some Music Theory in my private trombone lessons in prep for AP Music Theory, but that’s about it. If I even get that class. I was supposed to this past year, but scheduling was especially messed up this year–my schedule changed 3 times from the first time I saw it.

I wish I had summer work though: mainly for AP Physics C: Mechanics…

I have summer homework for AP Physics, AP Statistics, and AP Literature. Thankfully none for AP US Gov. I finished Physics & Stats already, but AP Lit summer assignment might kill me… I have to read 3 books which I definitely hate - I have no idea why I signed up for that class…

I’ve started on some scholarship and honors program essays… I hope to finish them before school starts. I want to finish applications before school but most aren’t available yet.

If I can get motivated, I will study for the ACT. I need to bring Math & Science scores up and review the stuff I did for English & Reading sections since it’s been a year since my last attempt. I will also try and learn some Calc BC stuff - I took AB this year and gonna self-study BC since my school doesn’t offer it so I can stay fresh with Calc since I’ll continue taking it in college. I might start self-studying Physics C (my school only has B) as well. All of this stuff hinges on how motivated I am, though… and I am NOT feeling the motivation at all right now!

As far as resume building goes, I am going to volunteer a bit this summer (signed up for Special Olympics events) but other than that, not doing much. I’m mainly focused on softball, not a whole lot of time for volunteering/working/regularly-scheduled classes.

AP Psychology and reading some books for AP English Literature

I have 2 books to read for AP Lit, 1 for AP Gov and I’ll be volunteering.

-Summer course: Tech
-Review Hon Physics before AP
-Start my college app
-Start learning calc for AP Physics C
-Summer HW

What will I be doing over the summer? Probably being a kid. I’m 17 years old, the past few months have been riddled with standardized testing, college visits, and final exams. Instead of self-studying an AP class which all of you seem to be doing (which I don’t know for what god forsaken reason one would choose to do that), I will be experiencing life as an adolescent. I will be enjoying the time off I have from school, not trying to recreate it by myself. I will be savoring my fading time as a teenager. I’ll be working a large portion of the rest of my freakin life, so don’t bat an eyelash to quickly if I don’t spend my free time at the beautiful age of 17 teaching myself AP Physics C or reading the APUSH textbook. Try to forgive me.

I forgive you!

You know, part of being a kid in this modern age is studying. If you are efficient, like many people on CC, self studying AP Physics C or reading APUSH textbooks do not take up your entire life. I’m sure everybody here will have plenty of time over the summer to be with friends, play sports, and have fun.

I would hope so! I am just concerned that CCers get too absorbed in self-studying and don’t enjoy the wonders of teenagehood while they still can!

I’ve gotta read 3 books for ap lit, read one book + 1/3 of a textbook for ap gov, write like 25 pages of summaries for ap bio, and start my college essays!! D-:
plus intern at a research institution and shadow a doctor

and prep for ACTs.
yay.

a very relaxing summer break indeed

Hahahha! SAT/ACT studies. I never really studied for mine, maybe that’s why I didn’t score so high, but all in all, afterwards it’s a lot of pointlessness that irks me how hard people work on it.

Rage. Should’ve been aggressive with my renewing techniques. Looks like some studier in the area wants to get at me–he put a hold on the computer science book forcing me to return it in 2 weeks! (gosh that much effort to get some studying) Too bad I’m returning it in a different library so it’s going to take longer (daresay I put a hold on him back lol)!
