I really want to get ahead in my classes during the summer so I dont have as stressed as this year. I also would like to have a litte free time to play some sports. I am taking AP Enviroment, world history, and gov't.......how would you guys recommend self-studying for these classes. I am willing to buy the textbooks...but i dont know which ones to get??......and math has always been a big problem for me....I am taking pre-cal next year.....any ideas....

I heard that you shouldn't bother with the AP envi-sci class, and just take the test. But that's just what I heard.

I self-studied bio last year. It was a bit complicated trying to find a textbook. Actually, I just looked at the curriculum of multiple schools offering the class and purchased the book most widely used.

With that said, my research was sort of a waste of time. The most important materials on the test was covered more concisely, more clearly in the Barron's AP guide I also bought than in the textbook itself.

Don't mistake me: I would still recommend getting a normal textbook, but it would probably be a better to use it as your secondary resourse and a AP testprep guide (Barron's or PR, I hear both are consistently good for many tests) as your main resource. Clear as mud? lol I guess what I'm trying to say is... it just would not make any sense to try and cram all 1200+ pages of a regular text into your brain when you could cover most of the material in 350.

B-u-m-p.....

For US Gov't , just keep up with the news. Read the national news in the paper and try to watch the evening news on TV. Just in the last few weeks, there have been major stories on the jury/court system (Jackson, Enron etc), filibuster (the "nuclear option"), nominations (Bolton), federal supremacy (marijuana laws) and many other topics. If you have a strong background in gov't, the class will be a lot easier.

What textbook are you guys using for pre-cal....?

I remember when i was in pre calc we used this one blue book that said pre-calculus on it and it was by Cohen... That book was good actually and it does a pretty good job at explaining stuff

Does anyone else recommend anything else. PLz help me.
