lol, i know this is an awfully general question. but let's just assume everyone who applies to MIT takes the hardest coursework possible. and the school is good, so you actually have to work for the As. what would be an acceptable range for unweighted GPA? btw i'm asian

That would depend on your high school, class schedule strength, and other factors (Phillips Exeter or TJ vs a no name public in the middle of nowhere that sends 10% of its kids to 4-year colleges is a big difference).

Generally, I think >3.9 is good, >3.8 might be okay.

Lol. My school doesn't understand the idea behind "unweighted GPA." It claims to be under a 4.0 system, as getting all 99s in all of the lowest level of classes would get you a 4.0. But when it calculates unweighted GPA, it just weights ALL of the classes as the highest level. So my unweighted GPA is >5.0. Haha. Pretty ridiculous, huh

i wish i went to a school liike TJ, lol.

assuming you mean Thomas Jefferson

oh, don't we all

I currently attend Newsweeks #13 school in america.. will colleges take that and my 4.0 gpa into consideration even though, imo, my school isn't all that special?

lol
the newsweeks rankings are BS
so i think the best way to see is to look @ ppl from other years and how they fared in the admissions process, and then compare yourself to them.

i'm a straight nothing student--i neither get all A-s nor all As :( i'm such a failure (jokking)
