Heyo everyone! I've posted on here before but a long time ago, now I'm just trying to get an update as to where I stand.

So as all of you reading this probably know I want to go to MIT. However, my grades don't reflect well on me...At all... I got a C my freshmen year with 2 B's I believe and a B my sophomore year, other than that... All A's. But My GPA only comes out to a 90. something, and the highest I can raise it this year (Junior year) could be a 95.. a 96 if I'm really lucky and get pretty much 100s in all my classes this next semester. and that's weighted :( It's really bad I know, I already cried about it but that doesn't get me anywhere. Pretty much moral of story is, I was too busy slacking off freshmen year, got my act together sophomore year, and now Junior year I finally realize how important it is to have high grades. However all this GPA talk is based on the way my school does GPA, on a 4.0 scale, using the traditional method an A is = to 4 blah blah blah, I have roughly a 3.7 3.8 unweighted GPA and I think a 4.1 weighted, I think not certain! I'm in all AP classes school is not hard for me, I just don't get really high A's and all my low A's were doing is making up for the B's and the C I got. (If you want a brief explanation of my poor grades, its pretty lame but an explanation none the less, I am a military brat that moved to Italy during my middle school years 6-8th grade, the atmosphere there is EXTREMELY lazy, before my freshmen year I moved back to the USA and started high school... No one told me you couldn't be lazy or how much High school actually mattered. Also the whole cliche thing of I'm trying to find myself, its lame, but its true.)

The GPA story is finished so now lets talk about my extracurricular activities. This is where things start to look more and more grim for me. My freshmen year I played football, I started.. That was the only thing I did. Then I changed schools and decided to change up what I did, so I joined Technical Theatre. I ran sound for 3 plays and then a bunch of little events almost every week, worked on the production crew for every show, ran sound for the school talent show and the Senior One Act plays (4, 45min-1h plays). Joined drama club. NHS, Mu Alpha Theta and Science NHS didn't accept me because of my poor GPA from freshmen year. They required at least a 90 GPA, I had an 85 at the time I believe.

That is pretty much my sophomore year, WAIT! I also joined Band Mid year because I wanted to be on the drumline. So now we are at my Junior year! The drumline thing took over all my dedication, so Theatre pretty much went out the water, even though I enjoyed running sound and stuff. I just couldn't, band has practice and theatre has rehearsal. They conflict :( But I played vibe during marching season (I didn't make drumline but I mad the pit =P) However I couldn't read music, I could count it, just not read the notes. So I taught myself how to read and play the show in a little over a week, and then started summer band. (I will admit it was hard, took so much out of me) While in band, during all the competitions our band percussion beat out every other school's percussion in scores (By some ridiculous amounts, like, by the 100s) We won UIL and got all 1's (the highest possible score) And won every competition. After marching season, I moved over to the drumline (YAY!) and I'm on that now.

The thing about my EC's is that there is not a lot, I mean... I'm just now joining Mu Alpha Theta as a junior and same with NHS and science NHS. I won't have a lot of time to become president, or take on any of those roles because I'm joining so late. It seems as though I'm in a race and everyone else started and I sat there drinking water and then ran. I'm just as smart or good, or bright, and anything else as the top people in my school but I screwed it away pretty bad and now I'm paying the price. The only real benefit to my EC's is that I put my fullest in each one. I made drumline with only a year of practice and no previous musical experience. (That's pretty impressive considering many people have been playing for years!) And not to brag but our band is pretty awesome! We have the scores to prove it.

So that was my rant so you guys can get to know me :) Now its your turn to talk, what should I do now? I know I can.. Maybe? make up for my previous years with the SAT, ACT and stuff.. but will that even be enough? Should I try and do more EC's? Or just stick with the ones I got and continue going full force, I want to start tutoring for math and do more but It just seems like something is holding me back.. And I don't know what :( Any advice? I'm in all AP classes, gonna take AP test, my projected course load for next year is pretty insane, 6 AP classes I think, but not because I'm trying to impress (I mean thats a reason but not the main one!) I just hate not having a challenge, and I can see that happening to me in an regular college, MIT looks challenging... I want that challenge, it makes me work harder. So yeah, that's me. What do you guys think?

Any questions feel free to ask :)
