<p>There are probably about 10 state flagship universities that are considered “public ivies”.</p>
<p>Such as Berkeley, UCLA, Virginia, Michigan.</p>
<p>But that is a made up term.</p>
<p>somewhat yes, like UCberkley is considered to be one of the ivies. UCLA is almost there. Some year UCLA had a lower acceptance rate than Berk too.
I mean these schools are tought but sometimes people like the private ivies and think they are better and superior. I mean there are so many students in a public ivy class but less students in Harvard or Yale, so you tend to have more opportunities to interact with the faculty and I guess they will know you better</p>
