What's easier to get a 4.0 in? Art History or Philosophy?

Please and thanks :D

Art History. Philosophy is one of the tougher (liberal arts and social science) majors.

Yeah, Art History. Philosophy is one of the toughest liberal arts majors.

That said, it’s hard to get a 4.0 in any major.

You’d think philosophy would be easy, but I know several majors who are struggling with it.

Also, art history is one of those majors where you have to really care (which is basically true of any major). Like if you don’t give a rat’s bottom about it, you’re gonna have a hard time remembering the difference between Greek blah blah and Mesopotamia blah blah and then writing an essay comparing the two.

I would be more concerned what would you do with an Art history major. A 4.0 does sound hot though lol…

My friend literally spends all day and all of her weekends doing philosophy and that’s how she keeps her 4.0 in philosophy. She’s VERY dedicated, and absolutely loves it. But I guess that goes for any major right? If you love it and work hard at it, you can get a 4.0 or close. Depends on your habits and how much you care. But yes, philosophy is definitely one of the hardest majors here.

i don’t buy it, but i get what you’re trying to say.

Only at Cal where the love for the subject and hard work are sometimes not enough, which is true and seen so many occasions including myself.

It does not seem to be a popular pre-med or pre-law major (over the years, one graduate reported going to law school, and one reported going to dental school, but no graduate reported going to medical school).

In all honesty it doesn’t matter what you major in for pre-med or pre-law. All you need to do is rock the MCAT/LSAT and you’re golden.

^ and have a good undergrad and sGPA.

Philosophy is one of the hardest majors at Berkeley, one of the hardest in L&S, and arguably the hardest humanities major (probably right up there with Rhetoric).

Art History isn’t exactly a walk in the park, either. But it’s probably a bit easier, comparably. Also, as another poster mentioned, getting a 4.0 is difficult in any major. Yes engineering and physics are super deflated, and humanities majors may hand out quite a few more B’s and A-'s than those majors, but A’s and A+'s are still hard to come by in any major.
