Yes, Grammatix is a study book. It was recommended by Xiggi and others and the owner (can't remember his name) used to post regularly on CC. However, for the past couple of years people have had difficulty getting a hold of the product and the response by the owner has been very spotty. The book is pretty expensive, about twice the cost of most books as I recall, but was supposed to be good for the CR part of the SAT. I don't know the current status of Grammatix as I haven't been following this section closely. You might just want to go with something like Maximum SAT, which my D thought was good (she got 800 CR), and is available through Amazon. Good luck!

Grammatix is good because it directs you to and then explains in detail specific problems in the BB. However, it's strategy is kind of. . . eh. . . . For CR, it tells you not to read the passage, but just the excerpts in the line based questions. The strategies are also very superficial for math. RR is better, in that respect, but, if you can afford it, you can use both. More importantly than just which prep book is the best, Xiggy stressed that you need to find the strategy that works for you, and that might involve "shopping around" a little. And in fact, Grammatix itself explicitly says this, as well. The author states that . . .

In other words, if you're happy with your performance on a particular question type, don't bother learning a new approach to it! If you feel like your Math score is already where you want it, then focus on improving your Writing and Critical Reading skills. It doesn't make sense to clutter your mind with new ways to do something you already know how to do.

But there will be times in this Strategy Guide when I'll say something you disagree with. When that happens, do us both a favor--test it out!
