the only fun about East Coast is.....being able to play in the snow....such as football, lacrosse, especially a snowball fight with the whole school after practice.....but then after that fight, when you go home,,,you go to sleep, waking up the next morning with a 100 degree fever....living in East Coast HAS ITS POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES....but then again thats with everything else in the world

Absolutely nothing.

Some people like seasons. Different people have different tastes.

I just want to know why is snow a benefit of being in the east coast? Not only that but it doesn't even snow all across the east coast. Just the northeast. So is the question what are the benefits of the colleges in the east coast or the northeast?

Actually, it does snow "all over the east coast," just not Florida or the coastal areas of the Carolinas. Georgia, Tennessee, inner-Carolinas and Virginia and Kentucky all get various amounts of snow in different years.

Heck, northern Virginia gets a ton of snow! (compared to me, anyway)

The main benefit of going to school in the East is the culture. It's very difficult to put into words, but the "back east" mindset is SO much more appealing (to me) than that of California, Oregon, and Washington. I spent a month up and down the coast last year, and I was so ready to come home. Somehow I get the impression that Easterners have more of a purpose-driven life, whereas more Westerners are just sort of chillin'...

Just my two cents and that doesn't apply to the entire population of either area, of course.

Just don't go to school in the midwest. God love 'em, but it sucks. ;)

I definitely don't think snow is a reason to stay away from the East Coast. I'm a California girl, and I personally don't do too well in cold weather, but I sincerely doubt that the cold could ruin someone's entire college experience. Geez.

come to ny cali....and i'll you show around....and then youll see how hard it is to shovel a driveway...but snow is only good for the holiday seasons...gives it the holiday spirit when theres snow in december

That sounds like a challenge, BestMiler. Hmm, well, if I'm living in the dorms at Vassar or wherever... it won't really be my job to shovel sidewalks, will it? Dorms are heated, aren't they, and there's a maintenance staff... so no worries. Am I horribly naive? I did spend a few years of my life in the snow, and my mom went to school in BUFFALO, of all places, so maybe I'll be able to cope if it's in my genes?

So is the sunny Cali weather a major draw for you to go to Berkeley? Because FYI, Berkeley is often overcast, smoggy and generally yucky. California dreamin' is a total myth.

i love that cal dream...nice weather...beaches.....hot women in bikinis roller blading....looking into the horizon as i get my ucb degree....yea definitely california dreamin

You can tell who is a tourist in SF by walking around during the evenings and seeing who's shivering and wearing t-shirts and shorts =).

Hahaha, have you even BEEN to California, BestMiler? Maybe you're confusing Berkeley and Long Beach State... or Will Smith's "Welcome to Miami" video.

lol....once...........................if i end in ca one day...ill def meet you...you gotta sweet personality

Thank you very much for the sentiment, BestMiler. I guess I should concede that Berkeley is probably an improvement on snow, if you're sick of snow... it's just that I spent some time living in San Diego and I know what real good weather is - and the Bay Area ain't it.

And karthikkito, I think it was Mark Twain who said that "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." : )

so if i meet you which one of theses should i say:
Do you believe in love at first sight or do I have to walk by again?
Wanna go 50-50 on a rape charge
You know, when you and I get old and your son comes up to me and says "Daddy, how did you meet mommy?" I'm gonna have to tell him/her how wonderful you were
Is there an airport nearby or is that just my heart taking off
hey baby can i be your derivative, so i can lay tangent to all your curves."
lol jk

Haha... I was looking at that thread as well. Pretty funny... I just hope none of these CC guys actually believe that those work...

Though the airport one is kind of sweet. I'd go with that one.

alright cal its 2:16 A.M. in ny and have school tomorrow, so gotta and go sleep

i go to UCLA but i grew up in the east coast in a place where it snowed plenty every winter. i guess im not the norm when i say this but i actually liked the snow and the shoveling and everything that came with it. there's something magical and dream-like about snow that i cant get out of my head, i have fond memories of waking up in the morning finding out that it started snowing overnight. needless to say i plan on going back to the east coast after i graduate.

Brandnew,

You're crazy. There's no other way to 'splain it. You're just nuts. Then again, you probably never had to shovel snow when you were old enough for it to throw out your back...

Well, when it snows, everything goes silent...very peaceful. Then the snowblowers start.

:)

I really hate frostbite
