What's Michigan State Like (I'm-out-of-state)

Over the past two years, the name MSU kept coming up in my mind and my teacher was a professor there for a few years, so I googled the college and checked out the site and really liked it so I applied October 12 (3 weeks ago.) Judging that I'm from Florida (raised up to 7 in Rhode Island), what is it like to go to MSU being from Florida (besides the cold), what is the student body like? How is the sociology program? I want to know as much as I can...and when do we get our acceptance decision? Im so anixous :)

PS: How much f. aid can I get cause out of state tuition is 30,000, and my parents made less than that on our last income tax.

Thank You

Sorry, but you can’t expect to get anywhere close to the financial aid needed from an OOS public.

OOS publics charge higher tuition to OOS students for a reason. It wouldn’t make much sense to then cover it up with aid.

Except for UVA and UNC, out of state publics don’t give their aid to help OOS students with the high costs to go there.

All you’d get is maybe a $5550 federal grant and a $5500 student loan. You would have about $20k per year uncovered.

What are your stats? If they’re high enough, some OOS publics might give some merit scholarships.

Can you get Bright Futures in Florida?

Even if not, if you’re looking for a huge, anonymous state university with moderate admission difficulty, tuition at UCF would be $5,000 instead of $30,000 at Michigan State.

Wow! I didn’t know UCF was so affordable.
