What's perk as Berkeley graduate? Grade deflation? Transfering out of Berkeley

I am a pre-med freshman at Berkeley. Currently in college of chemistry yet I will transfer to L&S for MCB or IB.
I am enrolled in Chem 4A and Math 1B and I am doing B- which is 2.8 GPA for both class.
I do not think I can get good GPA at Berkeley especially not enough to get me into med school (3.7+) at this institution where everyone not only studies hard but also very intelligent.
So I want to transfer to my own state school which is a lot lower in rank but sure I can pull 3.8+ there. Is this unsmart decision? I have seen numerous premed at Berkeley who simply couldn't get into med shool bc of there GPA...so thought it's worth transfering.

Get out of CoC after this semester, then try to get out of Cal either by the end of your first year if you can.

It’s not a good school to be as a pre-med.

I could say B- is right on average for Chem 4A and Math 1B and that it’s your fault that you’re not smart, but I know better when i’ve taken those courses myself and it was quite nightmare experience and I only have myself to blame for not being smart enough.

It’s not fun when you are paying OOS tuition to get your butt kicked.

Whether or not to transfer is a pretty personal decision, we can’t make it for you. But if you’re unhappy and you want a higher GPA, staying here and paying OOS tuition seems a bit silly.

Look into the transfer policies of your local school. I know the UC system only wants junior transfers, double check that your state school doesn’t have similar rules. You should also see what kind of coursework they’re expecting you to have taken, and make sure your schedule meets those requirements.

Yes, my point was that I don’t think I can go to med school with ±3.0 average unless med school will think this is good enough at Cal (which of course I doubt it will). Seems like Berkeley really is worst place for Premed especially when many top schools are inflating its grade.
