north or central campus?
anywhere near central
Co-ops are very affordable.
My kiddo’s new two bedroom apartment is $1200 a month…split with her roommate, so $600 for each girl. They also pay electric and internet…which amounts to another hundred a month. So, about $650 for each girl. 12 minute walk from Central. It is, however, a basement apartment (good windows, though…safe escape routes in all rooms) and there is some noise from the laundry room down the hall. The other two bedrooms in the building are $1600 a month. There are gems to be found, but you have to hunt. And the right time to hunt is late fall to early spring…for the following fall.
$600-800/mo is typical for central campus, $500-700 for north campus. The lowest rents are word of mouth apartments in houses owned by individuals.
You’re doing something wrong if you’re paying more than $550 including utilities and wifi.
I only require 5 things
- Walking distance to campus
- Clean
- Good management
- Parking space
- My own room
If you need anything extra, you’ll need to pay more
