Chance me
I'm a Junior
I'm 13th in my class top 5% GPA is at least 3.7
I got a 158 on my psats (currently taking sat prep class so i'm betting that will go up)
I'm in a engineering program
I do oratoricals competitions in one of them I got 1st place in another I got 2nd
I have plenty community service hours
I plan on being in honors society by may
I take AP Calc AB this year and plan on doing several more APs next year
I'm on varsity track and field (I throw the jav and discus)
And all my other classes are equivalent to honors, but more respected
That's pretty much it
so what are the chances that I'll get into Harvard or Yale

Pretty slim, I doubt you can boost ur sats to the 2100+ given ur junior psat, even with hard core studying (prep classes) imo, but please don’t hesitate to apply to both if u think H and Y are good fit

Thanks,
Sophomore year I got a 132 and this school year i got 158 so i’m pretty sure I can get up at least to the 1800’s on the real SAT and does it make a difference that I’m Native American (more than 25%) and African American?

1800 on the real sat will be too low to get you into H/Y
I agree with the first person, but it’s never a bad idea to apply

Any schools in my range that you would recommend???

Perhaps Trinity College or one of the sister schools???

Agreed, even for an underrepresented minority, you would probably need around a 2000 or better to be considered for Harvard and Yale.

So I’ve been taking SAT prep classes and I think I can get a 1990 on the SATs if I continue to work hard Also I am from CT so does that give me a better chance of getting into Yale…

Not really no.

you need to raise your SAT, it can be done easily

personally i think anyone is capable of scoring a 2100+, it just requires some time to study and taking practice tests, getting very familiar with the test and the types of questions
i scored a 179 on the psat as a sophomore and a 182 as a junior, during the summer of my junior year i got a 2160 on the sat.

it certainly helps that you are native american/african american. if you can raise your SAT i could definitely see you getting into cornell or upenn and other top schools

If you were 100% Native American you could have a strong URM push, but your current status might not be as beneficial. Harvard and Yale only accept special and world-class students. You NEED to break 2200 to have ANY chance at either school. Get 200+ more hours of community service or help kids in haiti or something. Do something that will set you apart. Put your heart into your essays. How good are you a track and field? If you are an athletic recruit you could get in easier…
