Whats the cheapest GOOD meal you can cook

For me its pasta with fresh streamed Broccoli .
Just buy a packet of 1.50 pasta mix, make it in a rice cooker, and use the food steamer top to cook your broccoli .
With butter and milk it comes to like 2.50 for what can easily serve 2 people( or one person 2x)

red beans and rice, lol. you can buy huge bags of both on the cheap. it’s actually a pretty nutritious meal and will keep you full for a long time. season it up any way you want, i know some people who like to add a tablespoon or two of sour cream to it.

SpaghettiOs with sliced franks.

Buttered toast ;)

i basically just live off eggs and fruit…

try making a quiche…very simple, inexpensive, nutritious, and “nice”. Also a great way to use up leftovers.

any cooking school prodigies wanna chime in? needs more responses

Rice, tofu, scrambled eggs, and omelette.

Pasta/macaroni.

As others have said I can do pasta and red beans and rice. For the red beans and rice I also throw some sausages in with them.

I make pesto with basil brought from the farmers market (so it’s under $1), olive oil bought in bulk (because it lasts close to 6 months). the only really expensive part is the pine nuts, but those can be bought in bulk and frozen. Make pasta, and put cherry tomatoes in the strainer, then strain the pasta over it. Toss with the pesto and voila- pretty healthy and super delicious:)

great post! you should think about writing a cookbook!

I’m guessing a Asian student will inform us on how to make awesome food for cheap .
I consider Asian cooking to be on a whole nouther level compared to what us American’s can do .
Banh Mi’s are freaking amazing and they cost like 2.50$ . They take so long to make though , like it takes 5,6 minutes .

i like to spice up my instant ramen with various additives, like with some fish sauce, lime etc for awesome fake pho lol

Does spam top it off, back at my last job one of the guys would make spam susi .
Premade rice, seaweed and spam in the center

dude spam is expensive lol its like 3-4 dollars. but yah spam sushi is good, but no it does not go on top sometimes i put some type of meat in there tho

Bean/chicken/beef burritos are delicious, cheap, and incredibly easy to make. Pasta with vodka sauce is really good too. A sausage with grilled onions and peppers is pretty simple to make as well.

I like to eat spam too. They send me free e-mail deliveries everyday.

Pasta with plenty of cheese and sauce.

I like making spaghetti as well, lots of times I make my own sauce, which just needs some ground beef, onion, and tomato sauce as well as some oil, sugar, garlic, and spices. It winds up being delicious, and I make a bunch of sauce, freeze it, and then I can make lasagna or whatever else with it.
