Whats the cost difference between the cheapest single apartment and a dorm?

I personally don't want a room mate to live with and find that an apartment suits me the best. I like people, just want to come home and have some time to myself without being bothered, i know it sounds anti social but that's what I want. My dad thinks that it would be too expensive and says that he will pay for what a dorm costs and I have to come up with the rest. I will be working this entire summer, would that be enough to make up the cost difference? what are your experiences with apartments near campus?

You’re welcome.

The most expensive dorm on campus is 2,502 a semester, so 5,004 for an academic year. Most off campus apartment places will only sign 9 or 12 month leases. Usually they somewhat compensate for the signing of a shorter lease by adding a charge to that so that it is only a little bit less than a 12 month lease. Your budget looks like it would be 420 dollars a month for a 12 month lease. I’m not sure how tough that’ll be that is somewhat nice and close to campus. Most places that I’ve heard about involve anywhere from 2-4 roomates, I haven’t really heard of too many peoples experiences with just a single rooming apartment.

This is probably a little bit more but it’s somewhat close

I understand what you’re saying, sometime it is nice to come home and have that time. It’s hard to do in a dorm on campus since you are literally sharing the room. Are you sure you wouldn’t be alright with just sharing a common room with multiple people and then having your own room and door that closes to go to if needed?
