What's the deal with the cuts?

So, I've heard about that the UC's cutting classes and professors because of cost issues with the state. I've also heard that these cuts mean that many kids at UCBerkeley are not going to be able to fufill the requirements needed to graduate in 4 years, and it may take 5 or more to do so.

Are the cuts really causing that big of a problem or can you finish everything if four years if you're willing to take summer classes or something?

Also, what's the policy of UCBerkeley on credit transfers if you want to take a summer class at another college?

Thanks!

If you plan your schedule carefully, and don’t fail any courses, then it is entirely possible to graduate in four years. Some of the science majors might require summer or an extra semester, or if you fail a course you might have to make it up in summer, but you can still graduate in four years.

The cuts are affecting staff much more than they are affecting faculty. If anything, there’s the same number of classes, just more students in them.
