What's the difference between SAT and ACT?

Is one test more focused on a certain aspect? I heard ACT is more focused on logic and SAT more on the language...Also, does it matter AT ALL to colleges which one you take? Thanks!

The ACT is more of an achievement test than the SAT, which is primarily an aptitude test. Most people consider the ACT to be more similar to the tests that they take in school. Try some practice tests for both to see which caters to your skills better.

oh thanks silverturtle~ It doesn’t matter to colleges right?

^ It is speculated that some east-coast schools have an unofficial preference for the SAT. Nonetheless, plenty of applicants get in with only an ACT score; send whichever you did better on.

oh 0_0. What about the ivies? Do they have a preference?

That’s a good question. One of my friends did badly on the SAT. He’s considering taking the ACT, as he thinks he’ll get a better score on it.

bumptidooo

Not officially.

I have another question…why do most ppl here have 4 or 5 SAT subject tests? Don’t colleges only require 2? Is there any advantage to taking more subject tests?
