Should I try to do medical research with a doctor next summer or apply to Simons Summer Research Fellowship?
I am extremely into neuroscience, and would like to major in that for undergrad.
I want to have some hands-on experience so that I can have a better understanding for the subject.
Any advice?

Both, of course. You’ll need plenty of backups. I’d suggest applying for other research internships as well (read some more CC threads for specific programs; many are sponsored by hospitals). If you have the opportunity to both Simons and an independent research project, pick whichever you think will be more beneficial–Simons would include interaction with other students of your age group, so that might be better, but also more competitive.
